hey there,
the mid eightys A7's I have in my home theater were of course shipped to me with the horns still mounted inside and the particle board horn mounts were broken at both ends! the actual angle mount that the horns were bolted to are black plastic or vinyl or something. I made new hardwood mounts and reused the plastic angle and it worked out fine. the previous a7's I had, I used aluminum angle on as it was easier than steel to work with. I think my magnificents just have hardwood blocks in the mount locations, and I had to reglue a couple of them as I recall. I think thats how most of the corners get broken off of a lot of the horns you see for sale. the latest A7s had a single screw into the MDF at the driver end of the horn setup. it all looked factory to. I fixed it.
just my .02,

Re: angle material-
I bought two separate sets of mounting hardware for the sectoral horns on 828/825 cabs, from separate sellers, and both had the same black plastic angle piece with hole punched for 811B/511B bolts, as well as the ridges on the 511B. I think there's a set right now on eBayBIN 75 bucks or so. Seller's name possibly Ratchbane or Ratchbain?
When I got the first set i figured it was fabricated aftermarket but the second set made me think plastic was OEM.
